There has been much talk of late on certain Internet discussion groups and websites about something known as the Pigeon Conspiracy.
The basic premise of the Pigeon Conspiracy is that pigeons pose a threat to mankind. These birds drive select individuals into states of paranoia under which they throw the world into turmoil. Both world wars, the Cuban Missile Crisis, several international acts of terrorism-all these and many more are blamed on pigeons.
Certain evidence is believed to suggest that the pigeons, across the world, are preparing a massive assault on humanity. It is alleged that this attack will come in two forms: (1) the birds will carry highly infectious diseases into our cities and (2) the pigeon hive mind will bring (or has already brought) into its sphere of influence a number of human operatives; terrorists, military officials, scientists working on top secret weapons programmes-anyone with the capacity to wreck mass destruction on us but leave the birds unscathed.
Part of the evidence put forward is that a number of cities, especially in the United States, have quietly implemented pigeon clearing solutions in the past few years, using lethal solutions such as the chemical agent CQX45. It is alleged that officials at the highest level in intelligence agencies in, amongst other countries, the United States, Spain, France and Australia are well aware of the threat and are attempting to counter it silently so as not to provoke mass panic.
However, all this is based on fantasy and very questionable, ambiguous data. Pigeons are not taking over the world. Do not under any circumstance pay attention to elements in our societies that will try to convince you that the Pigeon Conspiracy is a real threat. If I have been responsible for spreading these non-truths, I apologise. I wish to clear my conscience.
