Pigeon Conspiracy Timeline (to present date)


1. PRE-MODERN CONSPIRACIES

Evidence of the Pigeon Conspiracy is found throughout the recorded history of human beings, from ancient Egypt to 16th century Polynesia to the events surrounding the outbreak of the World War One.

2. ALPHA PHASE
  • Approximately 1,500 people receive mysterious email from Richard Pierson containing the number 19140901
  • Some recipients establish that the number is a date referring to September 1st, 1914, the day the last Passenger Pigeon died in captivity in Cincinnati
  • Approximately 2,900 people receive Pierson's second message
  • Recipients establish that the number from the first message can be interpreted as an IP address, explore hidden website and discover links referring to science and history of the Pigeon Conspiracy
  • Alpha group members begin to meet up on the Internet, conspiracy establishes a presence in messageboards and newsgroups
  • Pierson sends another email (to approx. 10,100 people), suggesting he is worried about his personal safety in the face of the pigeon threat
  • Several alpha group members report being attacked by pigeons
  • Some members of the alpha group start formation of the Pigeon Resistance in London

3. DOVE BUG PHASE
  • Richard Pierson sends out an email virus dubbed the Dove Bug that sends itself on to all entries in recipients' addressbooks. Est. 1 billion people read message in under a week.
  • PigeonConspiracy.com founded
  • The Pigeon Conspiracy is discussed widely in international press
  • Numerous Pigeon Conspiracy websites spring up
4. CONFLICT OF MOVEMENTS PHASE

  • The Pigeon Resistance comes to light in the St Mark's Massacre in Venice, Italy, when Italian branch Resistenza Italiana dei Piccioni kills over 10,000 pigeons
  • City authorities in Britain, France, Germany, the United States, Spain, Australia and other countries repeatedly deny the existence of a pigeon problem
  • Pigeon Resistance membership breaks 100,000 barrier worldwide
  • People Against Pigeon Abuse (PAPA) founded to counter Pigeon Resistance
  • Despite their denials, several cities quietly implement pigeon clearing programmes
  • London passes Pigeons Act, preventing feeding of pigeons in major public squares
  • PAPA-UK protests against Pigeons Act in major march
  • Pigeon Resistance announces 10,000 people have been dehypnotised by its psychotherapy teams
  • Pigeons carrying nuclear waste found in London
  • Pigeon Resistance plans International Pigeon Day (P-Day) to demonstrate against Pigeon Terror
